In Toroa we love building amazing creations with all the different blocks in our classroom. Our favourite things to build are houses, cars, zoos, cities, castles, roads, carparks, towers, shopping malls and playgrounds. Working together is lots of fun and helps us to think of even more ideas! Check out some of our best work.
WOW! What wonderful creations you have made. What do you enjoy making the most? If you have time, check out our Tower Challenge. We had to build a tower that was 1m high, it had to be strong enough to hold a tin of spaghetti. Do you want to give it a go and let us know how you went? Maybe you could set a challenge for us too!

Thanks Mrs Signal's maths groups for your comment on our blog! The things we like making the most are towers and zoos. What kinds of things do you all like to build? Your Tower Challenge sounds like lots of fun, we will have to give it a go! Once we have done it we will come up with an idea for you to try.

Rylan has a question for the girls and boys in the top two photos - "How do you build such a tall tower without it falling down?"
ReplyDeleteHi Rylan! To make tall towers that wouldn't fall down we had to make sure they were strong. To make them strong we put big pieces on the bottom that could hold the weight of the blocks at the top. If our bases weren't strong enough then all the blocks would fall down! We had to keep trying and not give up. Thanks for asking us a question!

ReplyDeleteIzzy says, "I like how you have made your towers, what did you use to build them"?
ReplyDeletePutauaki says, "What cool blocks you have at your school, we might have to have them"!
Hi Izzy and Putauaki! We used the big wooden blocks, the small wooden blocks and the Mega Bloks to make our towers. What kind of blocks do you have at your school? We are sure you have cool ones too!
